New 'Game of Thrones' Cruise Will Take You to Filming Locations in Croatia
By Shawnie Hamer
Game of Thrones might be over, but thanks to cruise line Cruise Croatia, you can channel your inner Arya Stark and take to the seas on a luxury, Thrones-themed adventure.
Though the ending of GoT was disappointing for some fans, this seven-day cruise is sure to be exciting, taking travelers to iconic filming locations from the show. Croatia served as the filming location for many of southern and eastern cities of Westeros, such as King’s Landing, Qarth, Braavos and the Westeros Riverland.
The cruise, setting sail on Aug. 8, 2020, is especially exciting for us diehard Daenerys Targaryen fans (#IStandWithDany) as much of Khaleesi’s formative years were spent in these locations. On the first day of the trip, guests will be taken to city of Split, the filming location for the city of Meereen, where Dany burnt down the patriarchy (literally) by seizing the city and freeing those who had been held as slaves.
One of the stops also includes the city of Dubrovnik, where many scenes taking place in King’s Landing were filmed. Fans will get to explore the city, including the Lovrijenac Fortress, where King Joffrey’s name day tournament took place, as well as St. Dominika Street, where fans witnessed Cersei Lannister’s Walk of Atonement.
To top it off, fans also have the option to climb the Mineeta Tower, the location of Qaarth’s House of the Undying.
In addition to the beautiful locations, stunning views, and slices of GoT history, guests will enjoy a welcome reception and cocktail evening, a GoT goodie bag, and a GoT-themed send-off party.
Much like a night of Tyrion boozing in a brothel, this trip is Lannister-level pricey, with lower-deck cabins going for $1,895 per person, and VIP cabins with private balconies set at $2,395 per person.
Luckily, there is a chance to earn yourself a seat onboard for the low price of $0! People reports that Cruise Croatia is holding a contest which will give one fan and three of their friends a spot on the ship. The competition is only open until June 9, so be sure to sign up quickly!
