New Harley Quinn Costume Revealed in 'Birds of Prey' Set Photos
By Jennifer Fabiano
While fans still have over a year of waiting for Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) to be released in Feb. 2020, leaked photos online are giving them a sneak peek at the upcoming DC film.
Behind-the-scenes photos of Margot Robbie in a new Harley Quinn look were posted to Twitter on Tuesday, and have sparked lots of talk about everyone's favorite "bad guy" in the new spin-off movie.
While Harley historically rocks pigtails, she can be seen with a messy, blue-hued bun in these photos. Another change to her look is that Harley is sporting pants instead of her usual short shorts. This new look could be part of her “emancipation” journey that is referenced in the movie title. The patriotic outfit is completed with a blue star bikini top and a red star painted on her stomach.
The new look most likely has to do with Harley not being deeply tied to the Joker in Birds of Prey.
These photos come during the same week the new Birds of Prey teaser was posted online. While we can’t tell if Harley is wearing pants in the 20-second video, we do see her in a crop top and her signature pigtails. The video ensures that Harley will “see you soon.”
The teaser, which mostly shows off another look from Harley Quinn, also offers a first look at Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Huntress, Jurnee Smollett-Bell as Black Canary, Chris Messina as Victor Zsasz, and Ewan McGregor as the Black Mask.
Robbie also posted a selfie from set to Instagram on Monday.
We can't wait to see all of Harley Quinn's new looks when Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) hits theaters on Feb. 7, 2020.
