Nick Nolte Joins Cast of 'Star Wars: The Mandalorian'

Nick Nolte is the newest member of the Star Wars: The Mandalorian cast, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The details of Nolte’s character, have not been released, not unlike other characters in the live-action series.

The 77-year-old actor has appeared in a myriad of films, including 48 Hrs., Down and Out in Beverly Hills, Mullholland Falls, The Thin Red Line, Warrior and Gangster Squad. He has also appeared on television in Graves, Luck, Gracepoint, and Rich Man, Poor Man.

Nolte joins actors Pedro Pascal and Gina Carano in The Mandalorian, a live-action Star Wars series that will appear on Disney+, Disney’s streaming service that is set to launch in 2019.

This is not the first time Nolte’s name has been discussed for a role in Star Wars. Nolte has previously spoken about the fact that he was on the short list of actors who were considered to play Han Solo.

The project, already in production, is the first Star Wars live-action streaming series. The series will rely heavily on visual effects, costumes, and makeup, which will allow characters to come and go and, in some cases, be cast later than usual during the production process.

The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travels of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic,” according to the StarWars.com.

The series is being written and executive produced by Emmy-nominated producer and actor Jon Favreau.
