Nicki Minaj Drops Bombshell About Boyfriend Kenneth Petty on Chance the Rapper's New Album
Chance the Rapper’s new album The Big Day dropped today, featuring the likes of Nicki Minaj, Shawn Mendes, and Megan Thee Stallion, among others. And along with beautiful storytelling and addictive beats, it might actually include confirmation of something fans have been speculating for months now.
In Nicki’s verse on the track "Zanies and Fools," she tells the story of her success and of her love. She raps, “I met my husband when I was 17 out in Queens / If you love it, let it go, now I know what that means / While he was up North for a body / I bodied everybody and got known for my body / My n***a home now, he the Clyde to my Bonnie / 'Bout to walk down the aisle and be a mommy.” Woah.
Nicki and her boyfriend, Kenneth Petty, have been rumored to be engaged and/or married for some time now. There's even been speculation that she's pregnant with his child. And with the way she raps about it in Chance’s new hit, it's obvious those milestones are right around the corner--if they haven't happened yet. Take a listen below.
The couple met and dated when they were growing up in Queens. After moving on, Nicki began dating her ex-partner of fourteen years, Safaree Samuels, before splitting in 2014. For his part, Petty has run into legal trouble, becoming a registered sex offender and serving time for manslaughter. He and Nicki have since reunited, and the rapper has said how happy she is, despite all the backlash she's received.
The 36-year-old Queen Radio host has often called Petty her "husband," and has shared that they want to start a family. If they're not married already, we can bet a wedding is right around the corner based on this song alone.
