Nicki Minaj Opens Up on Physical Abuse in Past Relationships

Ahead of her marriage to Kenneth Petty, superstar Nicki Minaj just spoke about her previous "toxic" relationships over Twitter.
She does not specify who exactly she is referring to, but she says that, "A man should make you feel safe, not afraid," going on to recall a time where she was afraid to speak to the person over the possibility she could be physically abused.
I remember being so afraid to speak cuz I never knew when that person would be in a particular mood and I could maybe say one wrong thing that would get me hit. So the diff you see in me now is that feeling when a woman feels lifted up, safe, appreciated & unconditionally loved.

Minaj previously dated rapper Safaree Samuels for 12 years, and also had relationships with rappers Meek Mill and Nas. The "Barbie Dreams" rapper didn't name names, however, according to NPR, Nas has been linked to domestic abuse allegations in the past with his ex-wife, R&B star Kelis. He has since denied the accusations.
Fans tweeted encouraging messages to Minaj and were glad that she is in a healthier relationship now.
My baby is happy now. That’s all that matters. You’re being treated the way you’re suppose to. So happy for you?? you’re so strong. And those who hurt you will suffer. God don’t like ugly.

Minaj went on to tweet, "In order to find a happy, loving relationship, she had to “learn how to love MYSELF. If you wouldn’t let a man treat your mother, your sister or best friend like that b/c you LOVE them, then you wouldn’t let a man treat YOU like that b/c you love YOU. This isn’t about judging. We judge too much. Lift them up.”
Her fiancé Petty even chimed in and replied, “So the diff you see in me now is that feeling when a woman feels lifted up, safe, appreciated & unconditionally loved.”
If Minaj is in a better place now, despite how many feel about Petty, all we can do is support her!
