Nicki Minaj Reveals When She's Getting Married to Kenneth Petty

Nicki Minaj just revealed when she and boyfriend Kenneth Petty are finally getting married, and the countdown has a bit of a backstory.

According to Us Weekly, Nicki shared on the Aug. 12 episode of Queen Radio, “We filed for the marriage license and we still had to pick it up and I was traveling, by the time I came back, we had to renew it again." The 36-year-old rapper continued, “From that time, you have 90 days to get married. That was about a week ago, so now I have about 80 days.”

Nicki explained that they'll get married in time to keep the marriage license but that a bigger wedding and reception will have to come later because she's just too busy. “I have to work on my album and I have a lot to focus on that I don’t want to do the big wedding now. We’ll do the big wedding later,” she clarified.

When Nicki and Kenneth confirmed their relationship in Dec. 2018, fans got nervous because he is a registered sex offender in New York and was convicted of attempted rape in 1995, according to Us Weekly. But Nicki responded to fan fury at the time by saying, “He was 15, she was 16 … in a relationship. But go awf, Internet. … Y’all can’t run my life. Y’all can’t even run y’all own life. Thank you boo.”

She has also defended herself more recently by explaining that they knew each other as teenagers. On a late July episode of Queen Radio, Nicki stated:

“When a person is with a n***a that loved them before they had a dime in their pocket?...How do you not understand that? How do you not understand happiness vs clout? How f**king dare you talk about lowering standards.”

Fans will apparently just have to get over Nicki's controversial choices, especially when she and Kenneth are officially married.
