'Bachelor in Paradise' Alums Nicole Lopez-Alvar and Clay Harbor Just Had a Seriously Awkward Twitter Convo
By Lillian Marx
Bachelor in Paradise alums Nicole Lopez-Alvar and Clay Harbor have gotten into it on social media…again. Nicole and Clay had a drama-filled relationship on BIP, and since their breakup, Nicole has dragged Clay for everything from his NFL career to his alleged commitment issues. The two just got into yet another awkward exchange, but this time their tired relationship beef isn’t what the internet has a problem with.
The back-and-forth started with a post from Nicole about “a guy” that she dated a year ago. The tweets are no longer available on Twitter, but one Reddit user captured them while they were still up.
“A year ago today I was deciding whether to end it with a guy who couldn’t have been more wrong for me,” she wrote. “Today, I’m happier than ever…Ladies, even if you’re lonely, if you’re not happy, trust your intuition because damn that chick is always right!”
OK, so that’s clearly a shot at Clay, but not the harshest one she’s ever taken. Weirdly, BIP alum Chris Randone alerted Clay to the tweet, and Clay responded with a gif captioned, “Are we really still talking about this?” Nicole wrote back that her post had been, “for me and my girls…no hard feelings!”
Twitter drama is all in a day’s work for former Bachelor stars. But as far as Redditors were concerned, Nicole's real offense was how she ended her first tweet. “Also, #JusticeForBreonnaTaylor," she added in an apparent non sequitur. Redditors expressed that they felt Nicole was meme-ing the Black Lives Matter movement and the death of Ms. Taylor. “Breonna Taylor was a real person who was murdered by state-sponsored violence,” wrote one. “Adding her name as an afterthought when talking about your dating life…is ridiculously offensive.”
Nicole has previously encouraged her followers to work to keep Breonna Taylor’s name trending on Twitter, and it’s unclear whether the inclusion of the hashtag was an ill-considered attempt at that or not.
