Night King Actor Calls Arya's Big Move in 'Game of Thrones' a 'Good Decision' [SPOILERS]
By Hannah Wigandt

This story includes spoilers for 'Game of Thrones' Season 8, Episode 3, "The Long Night."
Pretty much no one was expecting the Night King in Game of Thrones to die the way he did. Being stabbed by Arya Stark was just the twist the epic Battle of Winterfell needed, even if fans are struggling with how anticlimactic the Night King's demise was. However, the man behind the villain, Vladimír Furdík, thinks the scene was the best decision.
Fans are on the fence about the Night King's death, and how it appeared to be too easy, even if Arya's fighting skills are up to par. The lead-up to the undead leader was so huge, but just when fans thought they'd get more of a backstory, he was defeated, along with all of his undead followers.
"I think this was a good decision," Furdík told The Daily Beast. "Because nobody’s waiting so much for [Arya to surprise him], not many people knew it would happen. Maybe ten minutes before Arya jumps on the Night King, we don’t know where she is. We see Jon Snow and other actors, but we don’t know where she is. Maybe somebody can predict it, but I think it was a good decision. Who else can kill him and how? It was the best, I think."
Furdik also revealed that he is just as much in the dark about his character's backstory as fans are.
"I sometimes see people asking who he is and where he’s from," Furdík noted. "For example, I put on Instagram a picture of some fight that I did for the Tower of Joy when I stunt-doubled for one of the actors, and I’m in the same costume as him. And I put this picture on Instagram and people said, 'Ah! So the Night King is…' I think they started saying he was part of Jon Snow’s family—or somebody’s family, I don’t know which. I’m a little bit lost with who’s who [laughs]. They said I’m a Targaryen, or with the Lannister family, but I am also lost between these families."
We're glad Furdík got a death for his character that he truly enjoyed. But we're still banking on more from the Night King in the remaining three episodes of Game of Thrones.
