'Office Ladies' Podcast Covers the Episode 'Hot Girl'
If you haven't tuned into the podcast Office Ladies, do so now. It is delightful and hilarious and the perfect medicine for anyone missing the insanity of Dunder Mifflin. Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey, who played Pam and Angela on The Office, recount every episode in chronological order and give listeners behind-the-scenes info about characters, props, setting and script. It's awesome.
The episode under discussion this week was 'Hot Girl' from season 1. It's the 6th episode in the season and was written by Mindy Kaling and directed by Amy Heckerling. Everyone who loves this episode will remember that Amy Adams shows up to sell purses in the office and Michael and Dwight compete for her attention but Jim actually succeeds in landing a date with her.
During the podcast, Jenna and Angela spoke about working with Amy Adams and a fan asked if Jenna was hurt by the script, which basically said that Amy Adams was a better version of Jenna. But Jenna was so gracious (and totally self-deprecating!) in saying it didn't hurt her feelings and she said that Amy was a hotter version of her.
Jenna also offered some really cool backstory on Pam and Roy's engagement. Jenna actually chose the engagement ring Pam would wear from Roy and she chose a cluster of diamonds as opposed to a solitaire, to remind her that Roy doesn't actually know Pam that well. So when Pam and Roy have a fight in the 'Hot Girl' episode, Jenna looked at the ring as a reminder of all the little hurts she experienced during her engagement to Roy.
It's a great podcast for geeks and fans of The Office and great for anyone who is obsessed with trivia. Tune in every Wednesday for a new episode.
