Penn Badgley Says Joe From 'You' Would Kill Dan From 'Gossip Girl'

As Lifetime's You premiered on Netflix last month, tons of viewers flocked to their screens to see fan-favorite actor Penn Badgley play a seriously creepy stalker named Joe Goldberg. And as viewers got a few episodes deep, they started noticing major similarities between Joe and Badgley's previous—and most famous—character, Dan Humphrey from Gossip Girl. The basics were all there: They both were bookworms, were good at internet stalking, and were in love with a blonde girl. However, viewers quickly realized Joe was actually a murderer.

So yeah, Joe and Dan are a bit different. But even Badgley has noticed the parallels between the two, as he's joked about over social media.

Fans are now even wondering how Joe and Dan would get along if they could ever meet in some parallel universe, and to that, Badgley has a theory. He believes his You character would kill Lonely Boy. While talking to PopBuzz, Badgley said, "They would hate each other because they're too similar. And then Joe would kill Dan so, you know." Anyone else imagining that spinoff right now?

While Dan is seriously creepy and honestly very messed up (he was Gossip Girl all along!), we have to say we don't think he would ever straight up kill anyone.

Netflix has already confirmed there will be a second season of You, based on the second part of the book series by Caroline Kepnes, entitled Hidden Bodies. While no release date has been announced, we're sure we'll be seeing more of Joe Goldberg soon, for better or worse.
