Princess Nokia Accuses Ariana Grande of Stealing Her Song With '7 Rings'

Fans flocked to the internet on Friday to listen to Ariana Grande’s latest single "7 Rings." While fans were excited to hear a whole new sound from Ari, some thought the tune sounded a little too familiar.

Princess Nokia, a 26-year-old rapper, called out Ariana on social media for
creating a song she thinks sounds very similar to her 2017 song "Mine" from her 1992 mixtape. The rapper posted a video of herself listening to the two songs, expressing her feelings on the matter.

“Does that sound familiar to you? ’Cause that sound really familiar to me,” Nokia said. “Ain’t that the lil song I made about brown women and their hair? Hmmm...sounds about white.”

Fans of the rapper are also taking to Twitter to point out the similarities between the two songs.

The lyrics called into question are from the "7 Rings" chorus. "You like my hair?/Gee thanks, just bought it/ I want it, I got it/I want it, I got it," Ariana sings.

In "Mine," Nokia sings, "Hair blowing in the hummer/Flip the weave, I am a stunner/ It's mine, I bought it/It's mine, I bought it."

Others, such as ABC Dallas anchor Demetria Obilor, are suggesting Ariana's third single from her fifth studio album Thank U, Next sounds like "Pretty Boy Swag," Soulja Boy's 2010 hit.

We wonder if Ariana will still be saying at "least this song is a smash" about "7 Rings" after this backlash.
