Ever since Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and Dan Weiss signed on to bring fans the next Star Wars trilogy, we've been excited to see what they could add to the franchise. Well, reports are now claiming their saga will take place during the Old Republic.

As of now the biggest priority is of course the last Skywalker film, Star Wars: Episode IX, but Rian Johnson, along with duo Benioff and Weiss, are scheduled to release their own trilogies afterwards. Both series will be completely separate from the Skywalker storyline, and instead will expand on the Star Wars universe.

The Thrones showrunners have of course been busy with the final season of their HBO, show and have been extremely tight-lipped on their Star Wars trilogy, which has yet to have a release date. This is no surprise, really, considering Episode IX doesn't even have a title yet.

But according to Star Wars News Net, Benioff and Weiss' trilogy is reportedly going to be set during the time of the Old Republic, which is hundreds of years before the Skywalker plot. The reputable source says it's going to be a combination between Star Wars and The Lord of the Rings. But of course, this is just a report, so fans shouldn't get too excited just yet.

But if the rumors are true, fans could definitely expect to see great battle scenes, perhaps Darth Bane, and a galaxy even more far away.
