Rihanna's New Album is 'Super Close' to Being Done
By Jennifer Fabiano
Rihanna has been virtually mute about when we can expect her new music, and so have those around the Barbadian artist. Fans grasp at any new information they get about her next album, which is being called "R9" online, as it will be her ninth studio album. The-Dream, a record producer who works with artists like Rihanna and Beyoncé, recently spoke about the project in a Hot 97 interview with Ebro Darden, however.
“She’s cooking, she’s about done. She’s about done,” The-Dream confirmed. “Super close. If it wasn’t for fashion week."
Unfortunately, that’s all the 41-year-old producer would say. When Darden asked if the album is the reggae-inspired project that Rihanna teased last year, The-Dream would only ensure that the artist is finishing up the project.
Understandably, fans have been itching to hear new music from RiRi, who hasn’t released an album since Anti in 2016. Rihanna’s social media is filled with curious fans, who want to know any info about the album the singer is willing to share.
“When is the album dropping Robyn? Can we have a release date for that?,” wrote one fan on Instagram last month. Surprisingly, and to the joy of her impatient fans, Rihanna vaguely answered the question.
“2019,” was all the singer replied. So though there is no official release date, fans know they’ll thankfully be getting new music within the year.
Last month, Rihanna's vocal producer spoke about the upcoming album during an Instagram Live video. “R9 is great. R9 is amazing. It’s incredible, and that’s all I’m going to say," Kuk Harrell said. We all can't wait!
