'Riverdale' Might Be Leaving Netflix for Another Streaming Service

Something wicked this way comes--in the form of one of our favorite binge-series potentially leaving Netflix in the near future.

It's a sad day for fans of the CW's hit Riverdale, as the network has said the show is most likely only going to appear on their exclusive streaming service. The agreement for the rights to the CW's shows on Netflix is up this spring, in anticipation for the launch of Warner's service for all of their network properties.

What does this mean for fans of the show? You may have to pay for a new subscription to keep up with your favorite characters. This new service and subsequent removal of shows made by Warner from Netflix could also mean popular shows like Gossip Girl, Jane the Virgin, Arrowhead, and eventually even Friends could leave their current streaming platform.

In case you missed it, Netflix paid roughly $10 million to keep the rights to Friends to prevent this exact situation. But it seems just because the ultra-popular '90s sitcom is safe does not guarantee the same safety for the other shows from the network.

This seems to be happening more and more as streaming becomes the most popular way to watch shows--and that increase in market means a decrease in monopoly by companies like Netflix as networks create their own platforms for their shows, forcing viewers to subscribe to many different ones instead of one mega service.

Whatever the case, we just want to be able to keep up with Archie, Jughead, and the gang for seasons to come.
