'Riverdale' Spinoff 'Katy Keene' Begins Filming

Riverdale fans, listen up! The new spinoff of the CW's hit teen show based on Archie Comics has officially begun filming.

Lucy Hale, who was recently announced to be the titular character of the show Katy Keene, shared a behind the scenes snap of the cast on her Twitter.

The show follows Josie McCoy of Riverdale as she moves to the big city to escape small town life and pursue her dreams as a singer-songwriter. If the pilot takes off and becomes a full series, Ashleigh Murray will leave Riverdale and take on the new role instead, as previously reported.

Hale shared the snapshot with the caption "KATY KEENE: Day 1" and attached the photograph of herself and her co-stars of the new show.

The Katy Keene world exists within the Archie Comics universe, but takes place some time after the events of Riverdale. There has not been word on whether or not there will be a crossover of the characters not otherwise on Katy Keene, but if it were to happen we should expect them to be slightly older versions of their characters on the original show.

We can't wait to see what the cast does with the new series!
