Robert Pattinson Preparing for 'The Batman' Role With 'John Wick' Trainer Rigan Machado
In case you haven't heard, Robert Pattinson is going to be the next Caped Crusader in Matt Reeves’ upcoming film, The Batman, and as any former Bruce Wayne would probably tell you, the training is no picnic in the park. The physically-taxing role is presumably a lot of work, which is why Pattinson is already training for his DC debut.
ComicBook.com reports that photos surfaced this week of the 33-year-old actor learning Jiu-Jitsu from Rigan Machado. If you know anything about the Brazilian fighting style, you know that Machado is pretty much as serious as they come; he is an eighth-degree black belt, and has worked with Hollywood’s biggest action stars, including Vin Diesel and Charlie Hunnam.
The most famous of his students is Keanu Reeves, especially for Machado’s guidance for the role of John Wick. Keanu worked closely with the Jiu-Jitsu master in order to make the film series one of the most successful action franchises in history.
While Machado’s Instagram post of Pattinson training with him has now been deleted, fans can only imagine the grueling work The Lighthouse star is going through. As ComicBook.com points out, the fact that it is deleted likely means that the studio wants everything, including Pattinson getting his butt kicked at the gym, completely under wraps.
Good luck with the training, Robert! We'll see all his hard work pay off when The Batman hits theaters June 25, 2021.
