Scarlett Johansson SUES Disney over 'Black Widow' release!

Scarlett Johansson is burning bridges with entertainment giant Disney! The 36-year-old actress is reportedly suing Disney over a breach in contract with the release of the new Marvel instalment of Black Widow - I guess she truly has no plans on coming back to the Marvel-verse ?

Disney's long-awaited release of Black Widow finally came on July 9, 2021, with the highly anticipated film hitting theatres and the entertainment giants streaming platform, Disney + at the same time, but according to Scarlett Johansson the simultaneous release of the latest Marvel movie in was a breach of contract and the glamorous movie star is looking for retribution.

According to The Wall Street Journal, "Black Widow has a new enemy: the Walt Disney Co."

The publication broke the news earlier today, writing that Scarlett filed "a lawsuit on Thursday in Los Angeles Superior Court against Disney , alleging her contract was breached when the media giant released the film on its Disney+ streaming service at the same time as its theatrical debut."

According to the lawsuit Scarlett Johansson claimed that her agreement with Disney’s Marvel Entertainment guaranteed an exclusive theatrical release, and her salary was based in large part on the box-office performance of the film.

"Disney intentionally induced Marvel’s breach of the agreement, without justification, in order to prevent Ms. Johansson from realising the full benefit of her bargain with Marvel," the lawsuit stated.

However, a Disney spokesman came forth to address the lawsuit and said it held no merit and is “especially sad and distressing in its callous disregard for the horrific and prolonged global effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.”

The company said it “fully complied with Ms. Johansson’s contract and furthermore, the release of Black Widow on Disney+ with Premier Access has significantly enhanced her ability to earn additional compensation on top of the $20 million she has received to date.”
