Katherine Langford achieved massive success in her portrayal of Hannah Baker in Netflix’s 13 Reasons Why, springboarding her into other projects--including, most recently, a cut role in Avengers: Endgame. This past weekend, Netflix revealed a hint at Langford’s next role in Cursed, an adaptation of Frank Miller and Thomas Wheeler’s novel of the same name.
“FIRST LOOK: Katherine Langford in #Cursed — an epic re-imagination of the Arthurian legend. Coming 2020,” Netflix tweeted on Saturday, along with a photo of Langford in front of a waterfall wielding an ancient sword.
Langford, according to CinemaBlend, will play Nimue, the woman destined to become the Lady of the Lake, who gives King Arthur Excalibur. The series will reimagine the Arthurian legend from the perspective of Nimue, reinterpreted as a teenage girl who possesses a “mysterious gift.” Over the course of the series, Nimue will adventure with Arthur, a mercenary, in search of Merlin.
Cursed is adapted from an unreleased illustrated novel by Thomas Wheeler and Frank Miller, the latter of whom is renowned for his work on Marvel’s Wolverine and DC’s The Dark Knight Returns. Wheeler and Miller serve as creators and executive producers of the Netflix series.
The novel will be released on Oct. 1 of this year. As of yet, the Netflix series does not have any official release date, although CinemaBlend reports that it will likely premiere sometime in 2020. In the meantime, we’ll be satiating ourselves by watching Langford’s haunting performance in 13 Reasons Why.
