Shawn Mendes Announces New Single 'Señorita' With Camila Cabello
By Ryan Carroll
For months now, Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello have been teasing a follow-up to their previous hit collaborative effort, “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” stoking fan enthusiasm with hints on social media and appearances together in public. Today, all of those hints have come to fruition, with Mendes announcing that he and Cabello will release a new single, “Señorita,” this Friday.
Mendes made the announcement in a very brief Twitter post, writing only “#Señorita 6.21 @Camila_Cabello,” followed by a link to Shawncamila.com. The site allows users to pre-save the song on Spotify and Apple Music, and also offers a link to Mendes’ store, where users may buy the song as a CD (with optional “exclusive packaging,” or a vinyl, both of which include a digital copy).
This announcement follows long-running speculation about a collab between Mendes and Cabello, who first teamed up on their first track together in 2015, shortly before the release of Mendes’ first album, Handwritten, and three years before Cabello’s own solo debut, Camila.
Since then, Cabello and Mendes have begun to drop more hints of their collaboration, particularly on social media, where they posted photos together and made Instagram comments teasing “IKWYDLS [I Know What You Did Last Summer] 2.” Most recently, Mendes teased the announcement with a brief video--which seems to share the same aesthetic as Shawncamila.com.
As for us, we’re beyond excited to hear Mendes and Cabello’s collaboration when it drops this Friday--and until then, we’ll be keeping “I Know What You Did Last Summer” on repeat.
