The Shortest 'Bachelor' Relationships of All Time
By Lillian Marx
While true love stories have occasionally emerged from The Bachelor, more often than not, the show’s couples tend to crash and burn when they get back to the real world. Here’s a list of the shortest Bachelor relationships of all time, from 30 days to a whopping two months.
1. Jesse Palmer & Jessica Bowlin: 1 month
When Jesse chose Jessica in the season finale, he gave her an airline ticket to the big city in lieu of a ring. Even that was too extravagant an investment: The couple lasted only a month after the final episode aired.
2. Bob Guiney & Estella Gardinier: 1 month
By all accounts, Bob was to blame for this couple’s split. Their relationship hit the rocks as Bob tried to leverage his newfound celebrity to promote a book and revamp his music career.
3. Aaron Buerge & Helene Eksterowicz: 5 weeks
Yet another couple that couldn’t wait to get away from each other. Aaron and Helene broke off their engagement in a Starbucks. Classy.
4. Jason Mesnick & Melissa Rycroft: 6 weeks
Jason and Melissa’s split ranks in the all-time most brutal breakups ever. Jason ended the engagement on After the Final Rose, and then in the same breath asked runner-up Molly Malaney to take him back. She did, and the two are still together, which is probably no consolation to Melissa.
5. Arie Luyendyk Jr. & Becca Kufrin: 2 months
Who can forget the painfully awkward and seemingly endless torture that was Arie’s breakup with Becca? The couple lasted two months before Arie realized he had made a huge mistake and got together with runner-up Lauren Burnham.
6. Matt Grant & Shayne Lamas: 2 months
Breakups are hard, but two civilized adults like Matt and Shayne handled theirs amicably, right? Not so much. “I proposed to a woman who was about a foot and a half shorter than me, who had nothing in common with me, and thought there were palm trees in London,” Matt said, according to E! News. “Did I make a mistake? Yes.”
7. Prince Lorenzo Borghese & Jennifer Wilson: 2 months
You have to feel sorry for Jennifer—for about two months, she thought she might marry an actual prince. Alas, he never even proposed.
Don’t worry, there are plenty more Bachelor couples that didn’t last, but at least they made it past the three-month mark.
