Sophie Turner Slams Racist Meme Involving Her 'Game of Thrones' Character

There’s plenty of perks that come with having a major role on Game of Thrones due to the series' incredible popularity. From earning multiple awards to getting a shout out from the former U.K. Prime Minister, it has to be awesome to take part in the HBO series.
However, being such a prominent figure has its negatives. That was seen most recently when an image of one of the shows' stars was used for a racist meme.
According to The Wrap, Sophie Turner called out a Twitter user on Jan. 26 for posting a meme that featured an image of her character Sansa Stark with the caption “purity in race and culture,” and read “do it right, date and marry white.”
Turner responded to the tweet and wrote, “Ew. Please don’t use me to promote racism.”
Twitter took action and suspended the account that shared the disgusting post.
This isn’t the first time Turner has called out someone for using the show to promote their controversial beliefs. Using a similar response, she decried President Trump for posting a meme paraphrasing Ned Stark's infamous quote, stating, "Sanctions are Coming."
As awful as it is that Turner and other stars have to deal with morons using their image to promote hateful beliefs, it’s just as cool to see the actress using her platform to call those trolls out and condemn their bigotry.
