After nearly forty years in a galaxy far, far away, we're about the receive the last installment of the Skywalker saga in the Star Wars universe--and it doesn't sound like we'll be getting any follow-up on the characters anytime soon.
Disney CEO Bob Iger announced that following this year's December release of The Rise of Skywalker, the ninth episode in the saga, there will be a bit of a hiatus before any more Star Wars films are released.

“We have not announced any specific plans for movies thereafter,” Iger said on Thursday to Bloomberg Television. “There are movies in development, but we have not announced them.”
The statement does not entirely knock out the idea of more films in the future--but it does dismiss the idea that there could be another movie slated for release in the foreseeable future.
The title and teaser-trailer for Episode IX were released this past Friday at the Star Wars Celebration in Chicago. Fans had been anxiously awaiting the news since the premiere of The Last Jedi in 2017. In true Star Wars fashion, the name was kept a secret until the Celebration.

Fans will just have to wait and see what comes next when The Rise of Skywalker premieres on Dec. 20, 2019.
