Star Wars fans have been arguing that Kylo Ren will have to redeem himself since his introduction in The Force Awakens. We have seen glimpses of light in the villain, especially in his interactions with Rey in The Last Jedi, but overall his actions have teased that he's slipping further into the darkness. So what will happen to him in the final film in the sequel trilogy, the upcoming Rise of Skywalker?

A recent conversation on Reddit might be giving us renewed faith in Kylo Ren, as reported by Esquire.

Reddit user ThatSoodooGuy explained that, while watching A New Hope, they noticed something about the conversation Luke Skywalker’s Aunt Beru and Uncle Owen have about Luke’s lineage, explaining that the temptation to go to the dark side has always been there.

Beru says in the scene, "Luke's just not a farmer, Owen, he has too much of his father in him." Owen responds, "That's what I'm afraid of."

As Esquire points out, this conversation sets the central conflict for nearly all of the films. The struggle between light and dark in the Skywalker bloodline has been present in Anakin, Luke, and now Ben, but it almost always ends in the character returning to the good side. The Redditor argued:

Luke never fully gave into the dark side and managed to redeem his father. Even after his struggle in [T]he Last Jedi, it is clear that the Skywalker bloodline course corrects back to the light no matter how strong the pull of the dark is. Since the whole saga is about balance and finding peace in conflict, I think it’s fitting that this would apply to Ben as well. We’ve heard over and over about how IX will end all three trilogies, so why wouldn’t this theme be carried forward as well?”

It goes without saying that many people believe Kylo Ren will ultimately become a good guy in the final film, but will it really be that predictable in the end? We'll see everything for sure when Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hits theaters Dec. 20.
