Steve Carell and 'The Office's Greg Daniels Team Up for New Workplace Comedy on Netflix
By Jennifer Fabiano
It sounds too good to be true, but it isn’t. Netflix has just announced that the creators of The Office are finally back together and working on a new project. No, Steve Carell isn’t rebooting The Office, but his next series is arguably better than any reunion could be.
The new show is based off the proposed creation of a sixth major division of the United States Armed Forces, the Space Force. (Thanks, Donald Trump).
While we have no idea the daily tasks of the Space Force, the announcement tells us that “the goal of the new branch is ‘to defend satellites from attack’ and ‘perform other space-related tasks…or something.’”
We clearly don’t know much about the show so far, but what we do know has us incredibly excited.
For starters, we know the show being created by Steve Carell and writer Greg Daniels, who adapted The Office for the American version. While we don’t expect to see Michael Scott working on the Space Force, the video did reveal that Carell will star in the show.
The show does center around Space Force, but more specifically is about "the story of the men and women who have to figure it out," which means it will likely be just as much a workplace comedy as The Office is.
There is no official release date yet, as the video only says it is "coming soon," but we hope that the show isn’t far, far away from hitting Netflix.
