'Stranger Things' Nominated for Three SAG Awards
The Screen Actors Guild has spoken, and it turns out they love Stranger Things just as much as the rest of us. Variety reports that the Netflix fan-favorite was nominated for three categories in the 2020 ceremony.
The sci-fi thriller series will rumble with hugely successful shows like Big Little Lies, The Crown, The Handmaid’s Tale, and Game of Thrones in their first category for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series. In the category for Outstanding Action Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Comedy or Drama Series, they will face GoT again, along with The Walking Dead, Watchmen, and fellow Netflix series GLOW.
The SAG committee is also honoring David Harbour in his role of Jim Hopper. As you remember, the Hellboy actor gave an amazing performance last season, especially when his character sacrificed his life to close the gate to the Upside Down. In the category of Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series, Harbour will be up against Sterling K. Brown (This Is Us), Steve Carell (The Morning Show), Billy Crudup (The Morning Show), and Peter Dinklage (GoT).
Needless to say, it will be tough competition in all three categories, but even if Harbour doesn’t walk away with the award this year, if fans' theories are right about Hopper’s survival, he might be in the running again.
