'Stranger Things' Theory Predicts Crazy Way Karen Wheeler Will Die in Season 3

At this point, it seems most fans of Stranger Things agree with the popular theory that Billy Hargrove will become the new monster of Season 3. Based on footage in both trailers, it’s evident the bad boy character will undergo some type of dangerous transformation, and we’re guessing he’ll play the host for a creature of the Upside Down. Now, people are putting their own spin on this idea, predicting what will go down after Billy goes evil.

As reported by Refinery29, Reddit user Maplekey believes Billy will tragically cause Karen Wheeler, the mom of Mike and Nancy, to die. The fan speculates that Billy and Karen will start a sexual relationship, something that was hinted at in Season 2, and the teen will impregnate her, “with some sort of abomination, [à] la Geena Davis's character in The Fly series, or Noomi Rapace's character in Prometheus.” 

The Redditor concludes their theory by suggesting a heartbreaking scene, which would show “Mike and Nancy being forced to watch as their own mother gets burst open from the inside.” Yikes. That would be extremely gross and upsetting.

While we’re not sure Stranger Things will ever get that messed up, we are positive that if Billy becomes the new monster, he’s bound to cause some sort of serious havoc. With just hours until the series returns, we don’t have to wait too much longer to find out. Season 3 is set to debut on July 4 at 12:00 a.m. PST/3:00 a.m. EST.
