Taylor Swift goes to a funeral, sobs with Chris Rock in first trailer for 'Amsterdam'
CinemaCon audiences in Vegas were introduced Wednesday to a never-before-seen look at David O. Russell's highly secretive and previously untitled new movie, which has officially been dubbed Amsterdam.
In the sneak peek footage, Taylor Swift - in her first feature film role since 2019's Cats - appears as a woman in mourning, complete with a black fascinator and fashionable period garb. She's shown crying over the body of an older man as Chris Rock's character looks on.
"You have a dead white man in a box. It's not even a coffin, it doesn't even have a top on," Rock says as Swift sobs. "Who do you think is going to get in trouble? The Black man."
The film is described as an original romantic crime epic about three close friends (played by Christian Bale, Margot Robbie, and John David Washington) who find themselves at the center of one of the most shocking secret plots in American history. The teaser also introduces us to them. They are an attorney (Washington), a doctor (Bale), and a nurse (Robbie), who all apparently met in Belgium and made a pact to "protect each other no matter what." A title card says, "A lot of this actually happened."
Following the CinemaCon presentation, 20th Century Studios also released the first image of the trio in the film, below:
