Marvel's 'The Falcon and the Winter Soldier' for Disney+ is Officially Delayed
It was reported in 2018 that several Marvel characters would be getting their own series on the streaming service Disney+. One of these highly-anticipated shows is The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, which will focus on the relationship between newly-appointed Captain America, Sam Wilson, and the former Winter Soldier, Bucky Barnes.
In the wake of film productions around the globe facing setbacks due to the coronavirus pandemic, Anthony Mackie confirmed in June that the show would go on. "I'm happy to say we are not canceled, we are on hold," the fan-favorite actor said during a recent virtual appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. "So we're going back, hopefully sometime soon, to finish it up." Unfortunately, however, it's now been announced that The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will not be premiering on Disney+ in August as planned.
As reported by Entertainment Weekly, a source close to the situation has confirmed that the premiere has been delayed due to the pandemic. The cast and crew of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier were filming in Prague when production was put on hold in March as the virus continued to spread.
Even though the news is disheartening, a new premiere will be announced soon. Following Sam and Bucky as they go on "a global adventure that tests their abilities—and their patience" will definitely be worth the wait!
