'The Flash' Standalone Film's Directors Reportedly Set to Rewrite Script
By Kwadar Ray
We've known that a standalone Flash film has been in the works for over two years now, but development has been slow and changes have continuously been made.
It was reported back in 2017 that Joby Harold would write the film's script. Then last year, it was announced Spider-Man: Homecoming writers John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein were set to direct the upcoming standalone movie.
However, there's new alterations to the movie, as Deadline is now reporting that Daley and Goldstein will also write the film, rather than only directing it. The report implies that the duo will rewrite it without input from Harold.
Fans' displeasure with the constant delays and long wait for the film is not lost upon Ezra Miller, who's slated to star as Barry Allen in the movie.
"Anyone who knows anything about Barry Allen knows that he's always late. But then when he arrives, he gets stuff done," Miller recently stated in an interview. "And that's definitely how this film's production schedule is proceeding. We're a little late. But the reason why we are late, and this is the honest to god truth... We're all — and I include myself in this — we are very meticulously focused on making a movie that's not just one of the greatest superhero movies that we can possibly make. This movie's also going to be a gift to the fans."
There's no release date set for the film, but judging by the job Daley and Goldstein did with Spider-Man: Homecoming, the wait may be worth it.
