Jon Favreau Confirms 'The Mandalorian' Season 2 is Still Premiering This October

Super good news for Star Wars fans! According to Syfy, Jon Favreau confirmed that Season 2 of the popular Disney+ series, The Mandalorian, will be streamable this October. As filming across the world had been put on pause due to coronavirus safety concerns, fans were nervous that perhaps the new show from a galaxy far, far away might be pushed back. However, as we previously reported, filming had wrapped in early March.
During a virtual panel, Favreau explained, "We were lucky enough to have finished photography before the lockdown. Thanks to how technology-forward Lucasfilm and ILM are, we have been able to do all of our visual effects and editing and post-production remotely through systems that had been set up by those companies for us."
So what can Star Wars fans expect from The Mandalorian's highly-anticipated second season? Favreau says that round two will be a natural follow-up to Season 1 with a few new twists and turns, adding, "As we explore partnering with new filmmakers and having new characters and going deeper with the characters we already have, it's really been very fun and fulfilling, and I hope people are having as much fun seeing it as we are having making it."
If that wasn't enough good news, Season 3 is already in pre-production.
