'The New Mutants' Rumored for Straight-to-Hulu Release

Marvel's upcoming horror-superhero film The New Mutants has been in development for much longer than fans would hope. Although it was originally scheduled for a 2018 theatrical release, it was pushed back numerous times, and then was reportedly scheduled for three months of reshoots. The scheduled release for the film now is supposed to be Aug. 2, but new rumors circulating claim it's getting pushed back again—and will not even be released in theaters.

According to ScreenRant, the latest rumor comes from Merc With A Podcast's Scott Bechtel, who took to Twitter to share what he heard "through the grapevine." He wrote in a series of tweets:

"#newmutants will be delayed again. Fox & Boone are really struggling coming to terms on a comprehensible and finish product. They're looking to release it in early November. But... Fox is still toying with a Hulu release in October for #newmutants. They're trying to decide which method would have a more returnable value for an otherwise dead on arrival film."

ScreenRant points out that although The New Mutants was scheduled to begin reshoots in Sept. 2018, they have not started yet. While the idea of going straight to Hulu is simply a rumor at this point, fans are finding it very believable. And they are growing extremely impatient, understandably.

With an impressive cast including Anya Taylor-Joy (Split, The Witch), Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones), and Charlie Heaton (Stranger Things), it's a shame this film is seemingly being pushed to the side. Look out for an official announcement regarding any further pushbacks, while we can only hope it does see a theatrical release at all.
