The One 'Avengers: Endgame' Scene That Was Originally in 'Infinity War' [SPOILERS]

This story includes spoilers for 'Avengers: Endgame.'

Avengers: Endgame and Avengers: Infinity War could almost be a two-part mega film with how closely they were shot together and how their stories continued from one to the other. So it would be understandable if some scenes in Endgame were originally planned to be in its predecessor.

The opening scene of Endgame, where Hawkeye is having a sweet family moment, was actually supposed to be at the end of Infinity War, right after Thanos snapped his fingers.

Endgame and Infinity War directors Joe and Anthony Russo revealed the truth about the scene on a Facebook Live session with ComicBook.com. The brothers explained that the scene would have allowed Jeremy Renner to appear in the movie, and set up the chaos that Thanos caused with the snap. It would have also set up Hawkeye's role in Endgame.

Due to the reported confusion caused by the directing duo's plans, they decided to lead Endgame with the scene instead. It ended up serving as an emotional opening that set the tone for the rest of Endgame.
