The Other Role Rainn Wilson Auditioned for on 'The Office' Besides Dwight

It's a fact at this point that no one will ever see actor Rainn Wilson the same after his iconic portrayal of Dwight Schrute on The Office. It makes total sense, considering the Dunder Mifflin paper salesman by day/beet farmer by night was extremely important to the fan-favorite series which ran on NBC for nine hilarious seasons.
But despite that, Wilson actually once shared the sign-in sheet from the first day of auditions for The Office, and the single page reveals some really interesting could've been castings. One of the major ones? As Entertainment Weekly reports, Wilson actually tried out for both the roles of Dwight and Michael Scott. That gives the whole "assistant to the regional manager" tension a new meaning!
Other notable names on the sheet include Adam Scott of Parks and Recreation, who auditioned for the role of Jim Halpert. Ben Falcone, known for his roles in Bridesmaids and Tammy, along with being Melissa McCarthy's husband, also tried out for the role of Michael.
Wilson pointed out in his 2013 post that he was the first actor ever who auditioned for The Office, and obviously his promptness served him well in getting cast—not to mention his acting ability.
