The Sad Reason Jenelle Evans and David Eason Are Reportedly Giving Up Seeking Custody of Maryssa
It looks like the custody battle ex Teen Mom 2 stars Jenelle Evans and David Eason have been fighting is way more difficult than they predicted.
After David shot and killed Jenelle's dog last month, the pair has been embroiled in some major controversy, as expected. The 27-year-old reality star was quickly fired by MTV, and Child Protective Services (CPS) launched an investigation on their family. After a judge ruled that the parents would lose custody of their kids—four-year-old Kaiser (who Jenelle shares with ex Nathan Griffith), two-year-old Ensley, and 11-year-old Maryssa (who David shares with ex Whitney Johnson)—Jenelle claims she's doing "anything necessary" to get them back. But it looks like that's actually not the case.
A new report from The Ashley says that Jenelle and David are no longer seeking custody back of Maryssa. And the reasoning is super upsetting.
"Jenelle and David had a supervised visit at the visitation center with all four kids today," an insider tells the site. "Jace and Ensley were there, as was Kaiser. Maryssa came but refused to see David so he left." This alone apparently made the controversial dad so angry, he's giving up trying to get his daughter back.
"He said he’s done with Maryssa, and that she can stay with her grandmother for good," the same source said, also clarifying, "They are now only fighting to win back custody of Ensley and Kaiser."
Maryssa is currently in the care of her maternal grandmother, a place it looks like she'll be staying. David was granted full custody of his and Whitney's daughter in 2017. While the exact reasons he fought for full custody haven't been disclosed, The Ashley reported at the time that Whitney was able to see their daughter afterwards as long as "she follow[ed] certain parameters spelled out in the agreement regarding drug and alcohol use." Additionally, she had to "submit to hair follicle drug testing."
If this report is true, it's terribly upsetting that the couple would give up on Maryssa just because she made David angry—but on the other hand, perhaps it's for the best. She shouldn't be living in a potentially dangerous environment.
