Since the emergence of coronavirus, the production and release of a whole slew of films has been delayed. From horror to fantasy to comedy, COVID-19 has halted most projects. Unfortunately, ScreenRant reports that the release of the highly-anticipated prequel movie to the HBO series The Sopranos has been pushed back for this reason.

The film, titled The Many Saints Of Newark, is set to focus on a young Tony Soprano growing up in Newark, New Jersey. The role of young Tony will be played by Michael Gandolfini, the son of the late James Gandolfini, who portrayed the adult version of the character for the duration of the hit series. For those who don't know, The Sopranos aired for six seasons on HBO and is widely considered to be one of the best television shows ever made, garnering critical acclaim and winning a stunning total of 21 Emmy awards. However, if you had planned on seeing the film on its initial premiere date of Sept. 25, 2020, you can "fuggedaboutit," baby. Michael Gandolfini revealed on Instagram that the premiere of the movie has been delayed until March 12, 2021.

"If the Sopranos believe in anything, it’s that family comes first. Few more months of waiting to make sure you and yours are safe," Michael Gandolfini captioned his post. Better safe than sorry!

Along with Michael Gandolfini, Vera Farmiga, Jon Bernthal, Corey Stoll, Leslie Odom Jr., Billy Magnussen, and Ray Liotta will also star in the film. We're certainly looking forward to March 2021 when everyone can see the prequel in theaters together.
