In the past six years since The Office has been off the air, many behind-the-scenes stories and secrets have surfaced from the showrunners, but none are more surprising than hearing about the folks almost cast to play our favorite bunch of Scrantonites.

TV Guide once reported one such story about fans’ favorite on-screen couple, Jim Halpert (John Krasinski) and Pam Beesly (Jenna Fischer). The Office creator, Greg Daniels, revealed that he initially had a very different plan for the inter-office love affair. He explained:

"Jenna [Fischer] was the perfect Pam. The only alternative to Jenna: I had a version in mind in which Pam was African American and so was Roy. It would have been Craig Robinson as Roy and Erica Vittina Phillips as Pam. I was flirting with that as part of Americanizing it."

As you know, Robinson went on to play Darryl Philbin on the series. Erica Vittina Phillips did not join the cast on the beloved sitcom, but did go on to appear in comedies such as The 40-Year-Old Virgin and Superbad.

Daniels also revealed that Parks and Recreation star Adam Scott tested as Jim, but ultimately didn't make the cut. In addition, 24 actress Mary Lynn Rajskub was also in the running for the role of Pam.

Though all of these actors are hilarious in their own right, and probably would have done a stellar job in the roles, Jim and Pam will always be Krasinski and Fischer.
