There Are Already Multiple Petitions to Remove Robert Pattinson as Batman

It's been four months since Ben Affleck officially confirmed that he'd be passing the torch of Batman to another actor for Matt Reeves' The Batman. And since, it's seemingly been a long search for the new Dark Knight, with names such as Armie Hammer, Oscar Isaac and others being rumored to take on the role.
Now, however, it appears DC and Warner Bros.' search for the new Caped Crusader has ended. Variety reported on Thursday that Robert Pattinson is in final negotiations to play the superhero and although it's not a done deal, he is the top candidate and is expected to land the role.
The report was met with controversy, as many fans are not on board with the former Twilight star playing one of the most popular superheroes ever. And just hours after the news broke, petitions to replace Pattinson began to spread around the Internet.
One petition, which already has over 600 signatures, begs Warner Bros., "Don't make the Batfleck mistake again. Don't do it. For the love of all that is holy, stop trashing the DC Universe."
Another petition calls the casting a "complete joke," going as far to say it's the worst casting ever for Bruce Wayne. "I haven’t seen any evidence that Pattinson has redeemed himself after Twilight. Stop trying to make him happen Hollywood!," one commented on the page.
Another call to action against Warner Bros.' casting asks them to replace Pattinson with Armie Hammer, who was one of the more popular candidates for Batman, although he said he was never approached to take on the role.
"To cast Robert Pattinson or anyone other than Armie Hammer at this point would be a joke," the petition reads.
Pattinson's casting could spell disaster for the DCEU, but Reeves' vision was for a younger actor to take on the role, which disqualifies some other stars. Moreover, it's been years since the actor starred in the Twilight series, which appears to be one of the reasons DC fans aren't huge on the news.
The petitions are understandable, but if it's a done deal, what DC fans should do is support Pattinson as much as they can because he will play the masked crusader whether they like it or not.
