This 'Game of Thrones' Actor Plays a Serial Killer in 'Mindhunter' Season 2

Though you can say a lot (and we mean a lot) about Game of Thrones, one thing that’s indisputable is the raw talent of its cast. The mega-successful series has helped many cast members to breakout performances, Emmy nominations, and appearances in other major shows--as became clear this week, when it emerged that one Game of Thrones actor appears in the second season of Netflix’s Mindhunter.
Per DigitalSpy, Episode 4 of Mindhunter Season 2 features the appearance of Robert Aramayo, who appeared in Seasons 6 and 7 of Game of Thrones as a young Ned Stark. In Mindhunter, Aramayo plays convicted serial killer Elmer Wayne Henley Jr, who meets with protagonists Wendy Carr (Anna Torv) and Gregg Smith (Joe Tuttle) in order to help them with a case.
Mindhunter takes place during the early development of the discipline of criminal psychology, and sees members of the FBI attempt to track and apprehend serial killers. While some of the show’s characters are fictional, many characters are portrayals of real-life serial killers--including Henley, who participated in the Houston Mass Murders between 1970 and 1973.
Aramayo’s appearance on the show marks the latest in a series of positive career moves for the actor. In addition to his brief-but-pivotal performance on Game of Thrones, he also appeared in the well-regarded Jake Gyllenhaal thriller Nocturnal Animals.
While this performance isn’t exactly Aramayo’s big break into a lead role, it is a major step for the actor--and we’re excited to see more of his work going forward.
