Tom Cruise showed off his daredevil side in a clip he posted to Twitter Sunday, thanking fans for their support for Top Gun: Maverick while filming a skydiving sequence for the upcoming Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning.

In the clip, Cruise was in an aircraft over South Africa alongside collaborator Christopher McQuarrie, 54, who penned the script for Top Gun: Maverick and is directing parts one and two of the Mission: Impossible movie.

The A-list actor, 60 - who last week received a Best Actor nomination from the AARP awards for his role in Top Gun: Maverick - told his fans he wanted to show his gratitude as the holidays approach.

"Hey everyone, here we are over stunning South Africa, where we're filming Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning parts one and two,' he said. 'And I didn't want the year to end without thanking you all for coming out to the theaters and thank you for supporting Top Gun: Maverick."

McQuarrie reminded the leading man, "Listen, we really gotta roll, we gotta get the shot," reminding viewers that filming was taking place.

Cruise said, "Where was I? Oh yeah Thank you for supporting Top Gun: Maverick and thank you for allowing us to entertain you - it truly is the honor of a lifetime."

Cruise, who is known for performing his own stunts, continued: "I'm running out of altitude, so I have to get back to work - we have to get this shot - you have a very safe and happy holiday, we'll see you at the movies."
