VIDEO: Ed Helms Shares the Only Downside to 'The Office' Still Being Popular
Though the love for The Office has never really gone away, it has had quite a resurgence in recent years because of its availability on Netflix. The series began 14 years ago in 2005, and sweetly enough, there is now a new generation of fans who might not have been even born when the show first aired.
Ed Helms, who played Andy Bernard, stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! this week to promote his new film Corporate Animals. But of course talk of The Office came up. Mashable reports that, during the interview below, Kimmel asked the 45-year-old actor what he thought of the new, young Dunder Mifflin fandom.
Helms gushed, "It was a hit at the time, but it was largely adults. Now it's like eight, nine, 10-year-old kids that binge this thing on Netflix. It's awesome — I'm so proud of the show. That show is one of the greatest professional experiences of my life."
Though Helms couldn’t be more touched that the show is still adored, he said there is one downside to the popularity. He explained, "Back in the day, a person would come up and say like, 'Hey, you're Andy Bernard, it's so great to meet you!' Now, like, 10-year-old kids are running round going 'Rit-dit-dit-doo-doo'! They don't have the same restraint as older [fans]."
Despite fans being a little bit harder to avoid at airports, it's great to see such a hilarious show stay popular through generations.
