VIDEO: Emilia Clarke Explains Why She Finds 'Game of Thrones' Backlash 'Flattering'
Although the final season of Game of Thrones broke records for viewership, plenty of fans were not shy about discussing how much they disliked the ending of the HBO series.
Star Emilia Clarke, who played Daenerys Targaryen throughout all eight seasons, recently responded to the backlash, admitting to Variety at the Emmy Awards that the divisive response was actually "flattering." She explained:
"It was profoundly flattering. Because when someone cares that much, that they're ready to make such a noise about how they believe how the characters should have been finished, and how the story should have gone, that's just enormously flattering. That just shows how much everybody loved it."
Many of the Game of Thrones stars have come out to defend the final season and weigh in on all the criticisms, with most recently Kit Harington saying the way he's dealt with the negativity is not watching the eighth season at all.
We're glad Clarke is finding positivity in what could be quite damaging.
