With their veneer of glamour and beauty, it can sometimes be hard to remember that the women of the Kardashian-Jenner family are just as human as everyone else. But this week, Khloé Kardashian and mother Kris Jenner subtly bucked that trend, opening up and speaking candidly about how their pregnancies affected their body.
According to People, a sneak peek for the upcoming third season of Kardashian’s reality show, Revenge Body, sees Jenner taking the role of host to speak with Kardashian about her weight gain following the birth of her daughter, True.
“You spent so many years getting into the best shape of your life, and then you got pregnant. How did that feel?” Kris says in the video. Kardashian answers that she was surprised to gain over 40 pounds during her pregnancy and to not shed it quickly, sharing, “You think you’re going to have a baby and all of it’s going to come out, and then you leave the hospital and you’re life, ‘What is going on? Why do I still have all of this weight?’”
Jenner expresses sympathy with her daughter, remarking that following the birth of her first child Kourtney, she also put on weight and found it difficult to lose it. “After one month of eating good and exercising, I put on my jeans thinking, ‘I am a rockstar’ — and they wouldn’t go over my knees," the Momager states. “So it was back to the drawing board. I did not know what to do. I was so disappointed.”
Kardashian agrees, remarking that she feels daunted by the prospect of getting back in shape but ultimately that, “My focus is True and just really immersing myself in motherhood.” Jenner agrees that the process is difficult, and requires considerable “inner strength.”
We agree with Jenner--parenthood is never easy, and the physiological effects of pregnancy can throw a monkey wrench into anyone’s self-image. Ultimately, though, we’re confident that having kids is always worth it to the Kardashian-Jenner ladies.
