VIDEO: Kylie Jenner Breaks Silence on Her $1 Million Donation to Australian Relief Funds Following Backlash
With the Australian bushfires devastating the country, people have started calling out celebrities on what appeared to be their lack of support in the face of such a disaster.
Kylie Jenner received serious heat earlier this week for posting about the Australian fires and then in the same day, sharing a picture of herself in mink fur slippers. The fact that the makeup mogul was wearing real fur while simultaneously expressing sorrow at the death of so many animals seemed too hypocritical for many to remain silent.
This went down around the same time someone on Twitter called out the entire Kardashian-Jenner clan for seemingly declining to help Australia. In response, Kim Kardashian tweeted back, saying that just because she and her family don't publicize something, doesn't mean it didn't happen.
So after Stormi's mom got called out, along with the rest of her family, Kylie announced she was donating $1 million to the relief efforts in Australia and spoke about it in the video (reposted by fan account @KylieSnapchat) below.
It's a great thing to do and her donation will really help Australia's efforts to restore the country. Fans have commented on the post, with one writing, "You guys need to quit being mean. She didn’t have to give anything," and another adding, "Say what you want about them but this is absolutely amazing." However, some still threw shade towards Kylie, with one commenting:
"She’s a hypocrite. Talking about saving the animals while she wears their skin, fur and eats them. She[']s disgusting. Imagine what her daughter will think when she grows up and realised how much her mom hates animals."
But whatever the case, it's really generous of Kylie to donate so much money to this extremely important cause.
