VIDEO: Robert Downey Jr. Doesn't Seem Totally Against Reprising Iron Man Role for Future Film
Marvel fans are only starting to get used to living without Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark, but it turns out they might not need to. Us Weekly reports that the Iron Man actor recently stopped by the Today Show to promote his latest film, Doolittle, and was asked during the interview if he would ever return to his famed superhero role.
The Avengers: Endgame star joked that Marvel fans only want him back because “those might be the stages of grief,” but admitted he's not fully against playing Stark again one day. When asked if he'd take on the role for another film, he revealed, “I am so pleased that I wound up where I have. I am very fortunate. I’m not the kind of guy — I want to try to keep it classy. We’ll see.”
While the cherished MCU character will always hold a special place in his heart, Downey did confess that, at his age, he understands what it means to let go of something you love. He explained, “Now that I’m middle-aged, to be honest, you start looking at the back nine and you go, ‘This is part of the journey. Things end and everyone is going somewhere.”
While that may be true, I don’t think Marvel diehards will ever stop hoping that Downey’s journey takes him back to Tony Stark.
