VIDEO: New 'Teen Mom OG' Teaser Sees Mackenzie McKee Preparing Her Kids for Mom Angie Douthit's Death
In a teaser for the upcoming season of Teen Mom OG, Mackenzie McKee has to explain to her children that their grandma isn't going to come home. It's such a heartbreaking moment, considering the reality star lost her mom, Angie Douthit, to cancer in Dec. 2019.
In the clip, Mackenzie explains to her son Gannon that his grandma won't be leaving the hospital. The reality mom says, "Nanny’s not going to get to come home from the hospital, okay?” Gannon then asks if his grandma will "never, ever, ever" get to leave, and Mackenzie has to explain the gravity of the situation to him.
"I think it’s time for her to go to heaven," the MTV personality sadly tells her son. You can watch the emotional teaser below.
It's been a brutal journey for Mackenzie and her entire family. As The Sun reports, Angie got the diagnosis in Jan. 2018 that she had brain cancer. Following the heartbreaking news, the family found out that it spread to her bones and lungs. Despite attempts with chemotherapy, Angie's situation continued to regress until she decided to quit chemo. This decision came in Aug. 2019 and in December, she passed away.
Mackenzie and her family have been active on social media in sharing about Angie and the beloved memories they have of her. The posts are absolutely heartbreaking but very lovely also, as the family and Mack's fans can cherish the memory the beloved late teacher together.
Teen Mom OG returns March 17.
