Us Weekly reports that the musician stopped by The Ellen DeGeneres Show this week to promote his new album, Fine Line. During their conversation in the video below (at the 6:12 mark), Ellen casually brings up Harry’s recent run-in with his ex-flame and longtime friend, Kendall Jenner, while guest hosting The Late Late Show With James Corden, saying, “So when you hosted for James Corden, your guests were Tracee Ellis Ross and Kendall Jenner. And you and Kendall are really good friends now, right?”

The former One Direction heartthrob responds while uncomfortably scratching his leg, “Yeah, we’ve been friends for a while now, yeah.” Ellen subtly pries further by saying, “It’s sweet y’all are still really good friends.”

Seeing the direction that the talk show host is heading, he simply says, “Yeah” in a high-pitched voice. When Ellen mimics him a few times, Harry gets flustered saying, “Yeah, I think so. Right?”

He then begins laughing and looking around the room before abruptly saying, “Okay!,” and taking a drink from his mug. Ellen uses the topic as a segue to ask about the album, saying, “Rumor on the street is that this album is all about a breakup from someone.”

Harry repeats his simple, “Okay!” making the audience laugh, before revealing:

“I definitely write from personal experience, I think a lot of people do. I think if you want your songs to be honest and connect with people, it’s usually from writing honestly. Umm…Yeah it’s definitely about what I was going through at the time.”

Maybe a few tracks are about Kendall after all.
