Move over, Baby Groot! Step aside, sassy Teen Groot! Everybody's favorite sentient alien tree is going to be back in the third Guardians of the Galaxy, and according to Vin Diesel, he will be in a brand new form.

It certainly makes sense that Groot, who's been regrowing since the finale of that first Guardians movie when he valiantly sacrificed himself, will have evolved even more by the time we get to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. When asked about the third installment of the popular Marvel franchise in a recent interview with USA Today (per CinemaBlend), Diesel teased, "The Groot that we're going to is Alpha Groot. You're gonna lose your mind when you see Alpha Groot." After the stages fans have seen the cute character grow through, what could "Alpha Groot" even possibly mean?

Well, when a fan on Twitter asked Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn what Diesel meant, he replied, "Haha no idea. Maybe he just means the most awesome Groot ever?" Someone else suggested "Alpha Groot" could be Diesel's term for the return of the original, fully-grown Groot from Guardians of Galaxy, though Gunn said the actor was just speculating, quickly adding that Diesel "hasn't read the script."

"Alpha Groot" may just be an idea, but we know for a fact that the Guardians will appear in Thor: Love and Thunder, meaning that even though Guardians 3 is still far off, we'll be seeing some type of Groot when the Taika Waititi film hits theaters November 5, 2021.
