Wesley Snipes Just Responded to Marvel's Announced 'Blade' Reboot
By Ryan Carroll
One of the biggest surprises to come out of Marvel Studios’ Comic-Con 2019 panel was the announcement of a new Blade film starring Mahershala Ali. The movie will presumably reboot the original Blade trilogy, which starred Wesley Snipes--and this week, Snipes responded to the new film’s announcement.
According to ComicBook.com, Snipes was cordial in his response to the announcement, giving a statement saying, “To all the DAYWALKERS losing their minds right now, chillaaxx. Although the news comes as a surprise, it’s ALL GOOD. Such is the ‘business’ of ‘entertainment!’” Snipes' use of “DAYWALKERS” refers to the Blade characters of the same name.
“Much peace to the MCU crew - always a fan," Snipes added. “Congratulations and Salaam to Mahershala Ali, a beautiful and talented artist whose expressions I look forward to experiencing for many years to come. Inshallah, we will someday work together. Most importantly to my loyal fans, the incredible outpouring of love is overwhelming. I am grateful for the never-ending support. So, ‘nah fret nah worry, it’s not de end of de story.’ Welcome to the Daywalker Klique.”
In addition to Snipes’ appearance in the original Blade films, the series also hosted early creative efforts by David Goyer (Man of Steel, Batman v. Superman) and Guillermo Del Toro (Pacific Rim, The Shape of Water).
As for us, we’re glad to see that Snipes is being so gracious about the film--and we can only hope that he and Ali will collaborate soon, too.
