Wolverine Reportedly to Be Recast by Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige

Now that Disney has bought the rights to Fox's films, fans can expect X-Men and Fantastic Four to join the Marvel Universe at some point in the future, but Fox producers apparently want Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige to recast Wolverine. Fans will remember Hugh Jackman's portrayal in Logan as his last time playing the fan-favorite character.

Even though it's great the entire Marvel family will be reunited in the same universe, these changes can be controversial. For instance, by introducing mutants to the Marvel Universe it means they've always been there, so the question will rise: Where have they been this whole time? It's clearly going to be a huge job for the filmmakers.

According to ScreenRant, Lauren Shuler Donner, the producer of every X-Men film since 2000, stated she expects Feige to recast Wolverine. "Yes," she responded when asked. "I don’t know what Kevin’s thinking honestly. I don’t even think Kevin knows. I think Kevin’s still dealing with this wealth of characters and trying to make sense of them."

Donner also said that it was a smart move for Hugh Jackman to leave the role. "I think he was wise to say, 'I’m at that point. I can’t do it.' Now, that doesn’t mean he can’t come back as older Wolverine. You never know. Future Wolverine, you never know," she stated.

So far, it doesn't look like Marvel will make any concrete plans for anything due to legal issues. We'll all have to stick to speculating who could play Wolverine next in the meantime.
