'X Factor' Legendary Contestant Ariel Burdett Dead Aged 38
One of the most iconic X Factor contestants has sadly passed away.
UNILAD reports that Ariel Burdett died earlier this month at the young age of 38, as confirmed by her family and friends. Her cause of death has not yet been revealed.
Fans of the competition series will remember Ariel (real name Amy Burdett) from her audition on the show back in 2008. She confused viewers and judges alike, when the holistic vocal coach first ripped off her audition number label and threw it, saying, "I am not a number, I'm a human being." Of course, Simon Cowell was immediately skeptical, and after Ariel concluded her audition, the notoriously harsh judge said, "That was a complete and utter nightmare."
The judges went back and forth with Ariel, with the audition ending in her not getting another try.
The hilarious audition video above has been shared on the internet countless times across platforms, making it one of the most memorable in X Factor history.
Many have taken to social media to react to Ariel's passing, with one fan writing, "RIP to queen Ariel Burdett, the eternal holistic vocal coach. She never got past the first audition but she’s been remembered and talked about more than the majority of the acts that have made it to X Factor live shows. This classical composition needs to chart at number 1!"
Another tweeted, "I think it’s only fair that @TheXFactor include a tribute to our beloved Ariel Burdett in this [S]aturday’s final. She was the heart and soul of the show."
RIP Ariel Burdett, and our condolences to her family and friends.
